Following the 1969 “summer of love”, and the sexual revolution it started, swinging became more and more widespread among the sexually oppressed. The movement gained public notoriety and started to move up and out of people’s houses into private clubs. The first club dedicated exclusively to people adopting the swinging lifestyle opened in 1977, in New York. Named Plato’s Retreat, the club operated on a members-only policy from 1977 until 1985, when it was shut down by the government. After the closing of the New York location, the swingers club moved down to Florida, where it operated under the name of Plato’s Retreat 2 until 2006, when it was renamed and rebranded as 321 Slammer, a men’s-only sex club.
There are several benefits to joining a club that could help swinger couples better understand their wants and needs, and how to address them.
One of the major benefits of swinger clubs is that you get to be intimate with new people without the risk of jeopardizing your relationship(s) or theirs. Ethical nonmonogamy is all about consent. If you don’t cross boundaries – every couple might have different ones, so be sure to ask first! – there is relatively no risk of cheating or hurting anyone. It offers couples the chance to explore their sexuality and to better understand and satisfy each other’s needs in a no-shame environment.
Swingers of all backgrounds and orientations have lots of clubs to choose from these days, and they can find them all at SwingTowns: the world’s largest non-monogamy site. We offer our members exclusive information about local clubs and parties so they can find others to start swinging. Anyone 18+ can sign up for free and start browsing our ever-growing community of non-monogamous people and meetups.
Choosing the right club is easy when you know what you’re looking for – just browse our events calendar to find what’s happening near you. Most clubs and groups will operate on a members-only policy, so be sure you know what to expect when you sign up! A club for swinger couples might offer:
Any established club or group will be safe, fun, and clean. If you’re ever in doubt, look at the reviews on our site or just reach out and ask!
Most are usually welcome at swinger events, regardless of experience. At the end of the day, it’s all about social connection so don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! As long as you’re mingling, you’re sure to have a good time. And if not’s exactly what you hope for, there’s always the next party to try again!
The easiest way to find the specific club you’re looking for – aside from our uber sexy swinger event database – is to just hop on Google and type “swingers club near me.” Alternative relationships have been on a rise for years, so clubs catering to people involved in such relations have been springing up all over the place. You can find clubs meant for something as simple as dating and meeting new people to those that cater to a more hard-core clientele. You might not find what you’re looking for at the first club you set foot in, but that’s part of the fun! *
We always strive to do our best when it comes to getting people together. We are constantly improving our services in order to give every one of you the best lifestyle experience you can possibly have. * A word to the wise: don’t settle for what’s close or what seems popular if it doesn’t feel right. There are lots of options these days and you can find what you really want if you just put in the work. Drive those few extra miles, try a place where you don’t know anyone. There’s a lot that alternative relationships have to offer. You’ll be surprised what stepping outside of your comfort zone can lead to!
